NATO is compromised not only of headquarters in Brussels but also different bodies, organizations, and centers located throughout the alliance. Here you can find publications from NATO Agencies, NATO Allied Command Transformation, Allied Command Operations, and NATO Centres of Exellence

  • NATO Agencies across the Alliance have responsibilities in more technical and specialised fields. They serve to meet requirements of some or all Allies in the fields of procurement, logistics and other forms of services, support or cooperation, ensuring that the Alliance has the capabilities it needs to carry out its full spectrum of operations and missions.
  • Allied Command Transformation’s mission is to contribute to preserving the peace, security and territorial integrity of Alliance member states by leading the warfare development of military structures, forces, capabilities and doctrines. The mission must enable NATO to meet its level of ambition and core missions.
  • NATO Allied Command Operations is responsible for the planning and execution of all Alliance operations and is headed by SACEUR. aim is to contribute to Allied defence and security by maintaining the integrity of Alliance territory, safeguarding freedom of the seas and economic lifelines, and to preserve or restore the security of its members.
  • NATO Centres of Exellence: are international military organisations that train and educate leaders and specialists from NATO member and partner countries. They assist in doctrine development, identify lessons learned, improve interoperability and capabilities, and test and validate concepts through experimentation. They offer recognised expertise and experience that is of benefit to the Alliance, and support the transformation of NATO, while avoiding the duplication of assets, resources and capabilities already present within the Alliance.

NATO Science & Technology Organization (STO)

NATO S&T Organization website contains various publications such as Technical Reports, Meeting Proceedings, Educational Notes, CMRE Technical Reports, AGARD Reports, Access to National Reports.

NATO STO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (STO CMRE - Italy)

CMRE Open Library is the digital repository of open access full text publications of the NATO STO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE) . Its main contents are technical reports, conference papers, and journal articles authored by the Centre scientists and engineers since its foundation in 1959.

    

NATO Defense College (NDC)

NDC Policy Briefs deal with current NATO-related issues with the aim to constructively assess the Alliance’s policy, achievements, and challenges. Through its policy-oriented tone, the Series targets NDC Course members, NATO and member states policy-makers as well as the broader security community.

NDC Research Papers deal with NATO-related issues from a multiplicity of angles that can be historical, political, operational or prospective; they can have an obvious research or more policy angle; they are analytical in nature and must be relevant to the understanding of NATO’s challenges and policy-making.

Russian Studies is an online series of the NDC Research Division that presents book reviews of Russian monographs dealing with security and defense issues and that have not been published in English. It can also feature reviews of official documents that are worth making available to a broader Western audience.

NATO Legal Gazette is an educational outreach publication produced by the HQ SACT Legal Offices in Norfolk and Staff Element Europe co-located at SHAPE in Mons, Belgium.

Emory International Law Review - Special Edition : In order to mark the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Washington Treaty, the Legal Offices in NATO Headquarters International Staff, in SHAPE, and in HQ SACT have, in cooperation with Emory Law School, coordinated a publication providing a current commentary to the Washington Treaty.

Concept Development and Experimentation Handbook provides basic information for the concept developer based on approved NATO guidance and policy as well as best practice derived from a rich history of CD&E experience. You can download the handbook in pdf format here.

Strategic Foresight Analysis : The aim of the Strategic Foresight Analysis Report is to identify trends that will shape the future strategic context and derive implications for the Alliance out to 2035 and beyond.

Innovation in Capability Development Publication : HQ SACT's Capability Engineering and Innovation Division has developed the Innovation in Capability Development Publication Series to capture and socialise innovative transformational ideas.

NATO Open Perspectives Exchange Network (OPEN) OPEN stands for OPEN Perspectives Exchange Network, which is a network for understanding the modern security environment from other than military point of view run by NATO Allied Command Transformation’s Plans and Policy Branch. OPEN products are not classified and openly sourced. They are available at openpublications.org

Stability Policing : This volume covers the subject of Stability Policing, which allows NATO to operate in a proactive posture in order to prevent escalation of conflict, changing the way in which the Alliance engages in this complex strategic environment.

The Three Swords Magazine is published by NATO Joint Warfare Centre in Norway.

NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre (NMIOTC-Hellas)

NMIOTC Journal is a professional publication aiming to serve as a forum for the presentation and stimulation of innovative thinking on NATO Maritime Interdiction related issues such as doctrine, concepts, force structure, employment and readiness. Numerous of prominent authors from a wide range (military, civilian, academia, IO etc) have written to the journal that has been embraced from the community.

The Northern Star Magazine is a 6 times a year published magazine principally for the Headquarters JFCBS' community based at Brunssum.

NATO Allied Land Command NATO ALC (LANDCOM - Turkey)

Land Power Magazine is a bi-annual publication of Allied Land Command.

NATO Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (HQ ARRC – UK)

ARRC Journal is an academic, peer reviewed and publicly releasable magazine that shares work the headquarters staff (HQ ARRC - UK) has accomplished over the previous year.

NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy (NRDC-ITA)

NATO Joint Air Power Competence Centre (JAPCC - Germany)

The JAPCC Journals are published bi-annually since 2005 in order to promote the centre’s efforts, the first edition of the JAPCC journal was published in spring 2005, followed by a bi-annual release since then.
