Facing the Wall: Online PresentationBy the Wende Museum
The Cold War held large parts of the world in its grip for half a century, extending as far as Korea and Southeast Asia. Yet its point of origin was in the middle of Germany where the growing tensions in and around Berlin governed by four-power agreements soon became deep disagreements between West and East. Who can forget the pictures of Soviet and Allied armor facing off on Friedrichstrasse in Berlin in 1961? Or the Wall that sealed off the two parts of Germany from one another?
It is natural therefore that flashpoint Berlin should be the keynote of the collecting interests of The Wende Museum. To mark the 50th anniversary of the building of the Berlin Wall, The Wende now presents its long-running installation, Facing the Wall, in an online version.
